In Edits: The Pawns

In these final days of the difficult year 2020, I’m grateful to share I finished the rough draft of Book 2 of The Bucharest Witches, the follow-up to The Banished.

I’m grateful because back in April and May I wasn’t sure it would happen. With misery all around, I found it hard to focus on writing. Covid continues to rage across the country, but New Yorkers have proven ourselves resilient enough to mask-up and move on with our lives, as best we can.

The holidays will be quiet this year. For the first time I won’t be traveling to Vermont to visit my parents. They are in their 80s, and with quarantine rules and limited means of transportation (I don’t own a car, Amtrak is suspended, flights are few), we all decided to hunker down.

Draft revisions will take months. The working title for Book 2 is The Pawns. As Rachel, James, and Paula face supernatural horrors, Travis fights to save them, guilty for marking them in the first place. The Pawns dives deep into the evil lurking behind his family magic, and reveals a diabolical plan that clouds the coven’s future.

For me the first draft is always hardest, and I’m relieved to move on to edits. In the meantime, I wish everyone a safe and peaceful holiday season, and better times ahead.
